I keep having this funny delusion

I keep having this funny delusion that I've posted recently. Ha. hahaha.

Anyways, today I bring you this:

Errie but lovely: perfect, I'm sure, for that Valentine's day gift that you've already picked out for next week...? Although I've still some leftover cynicism from Valentines Days past, I do sincerely find this image and mystery captivating. The embrace is so intimate - their faces are so close together that it looks like they've just released their final kiss - it suggests so many histories of devotion and loss, grief and love. It's a little bit intoxicating if you think about it for too long.

So we won't. Moving on.

In case you'd actually like some background (albeit accompanied with the necessary journalistic drama) on this lovely young old couple, you can read more here. I must admit, I also really love that they're Roman lovers.

On far more pressing news fronts, I finally finished Mendon's gloves. See how lovely? For these gloves, I had to add a step or two to the usual glovey pattern.

Maybe you can guess with a hint.

or two.

Or maybe, like me, you needed to take a long, hard look at Mendon's hands to figure it out.
hands, duh 006.jpg
Duh! So, uhm, that thumb needed to be reknit. For his Other Right Hand.

Of the utmost importance:
I am giving a recital. On April 1st (Sunday) at 1 pm. It will be grand. Does this date present any huge complications for anyone? (I sincerely hope it doesn't). Let me know.
Error! I do not know when I'm giving my recital. My pianist backed out on the already agreed upon time today at rehearsal. It may be at 5pm on April 1st. It may need to be rescheduled to another time entirely. I will update as soon as I know what on earth is going on.

Back to the toils.

see how lovely? I need to change my pants.

Well, love, don't count on me being at the recital, ok? :-)

They had a big spread on the 'lovers' in the News-Herald this morning. It certainly is a very enticing photo.

Barring high water, I will be there. Just let me know the final, final date and time.
And the gloves are charming. I admit, when I make mittens, I tend to make them fit either hand, for just that reason. Oops!

I think Mensch just needs to rethink the placement of his thumb. ;) Seriously ... Kristen I LOVE seeing the things that you knit! I NEED to learn how to do that! :)

Crys, you crack me up! I agree wholeheartedly, but I have a feeling that I should consult Mendon before I call upon the knitting gods to rearrange his body. :) I'd be happy to sit down and teach you the wee bit I know if we've ever an afternoon of down time together. Although, I also highly recommend going to the source of my learning (Mendon's Maman).

What about 3 pm on April 1st? This might be the permanent time, and luckily it's not too huge of a change from 1 pm. Let me know.

I agree. Mendon may have grown, shall we say "attached" to his thumb placement. Maybe the glove does need to just be adjusted. I would LOVE to sit with you at least to learn the basics. I look at two knitting needles and a spool of yarn and ... (and I'm sure, when your sister in law reads this, will be furiously nodding her head) ... I have serious anxiety! I can sing. I can cook. Artistic? ummmm not me! I should be in Mentor at the end of the month for the baby shower, but that's probably not going to be a great time for knitting lessons. I've changed to "should" be in Mentor, as our plans seem to be dependent upon weather (I'm really not all that excited to drive through the apparently world famous snow dumping ground that is upstate NY, and I am having my wisdom teeth extracted next Monday -- ask Mara -- I'm a baby. Still (at 30!) Deep inside, I'm convinced that I will not survive this. But, right now I rather resemble a very large chipmunk, so I guess I need to risk it. Glad I made you smile! :)
