I'm taking a crazy grad statistics course. It comes with exams that involve both in-class and take-home portions. Good way to ruin a weekend. Regardless, now that I'm taking a graduate course, ... I feel...like a fifth-grader? (Oh, and the grade isn't that great - homework is pass/fail).
In other news, it's getting mighty cold here, but I'm prepared now that I've ended the pull-over's Reign of Static. It is most empowering to save what would be at least $60 for a new coat. Now, on to buying a new coat for Mendon.
Otherwise, everything is finefinefine here. Lots of feeling exhausted and lots of desperate desire for the break that we'll get starting next Friday. I cannot wait to take a few steps back from school and all of our work here. I'm also seeking change to go with the 3/4 semester burn-out. I'm trying to get up the time and guts to cut my hair (myself). My mom always cut her hair, and I have since been convinced that hair-cutting is a skill that I should have. Genetics, right?
Oooh, that can be a dangerous emotional road trip, Kristen. Trust me, I've taken it (remember my 'jealous-of-your-skills' post?).
I will happily give you a trim next week, if you so desire. Either way, I look forward to seeing y'all on Friday.
Cut your own hair? Uh oh, that can be a bad idea: Mommy got mad at me the one time in my life I tried that. I was in kindergarten and I just cut one lock. I didn't think she would notice. When she did, I thought I could get out of trouble if I told her that my friend, who had spent the night that weekend, had cut it. (I can count on one hand the number of times I lied to my mother. This was one of them.) But when she picked up the phone to call her mom, I couldn't bear to get my friend in trouble and confessed. She wasn't happy with me. I'll never take scissors to my own hair again.
So are you taking the whole week of Thanksgiving off? Darn, that means I'll have to find another ride home. When are you coming back to Oxford?
PS. It's been a while. We should hang out sometime, when (if ever) you're not loaded down with exams.
Kristen, your hair is long enough to trim it yourself and have someone fix it if you don't like the results.
I was thinking cut. Like a chop. Like 5" plus. And I think that I can do it because I did a trim this summer. My mom took it all to one length and then I added layers. I would be adding layers, as well, and that would keep any inconsistencies hidden. Plus, if it's really bad, I have hairties. We'll see. Mara, for now, I'm going to plan on an appointment next week with you, and if I go nuts beforehand and cut it all off myself, then I'll at the very least ask you to give it a once-over. Thanks so much for that offer, by the way - it's quite generous.
PS. Hayley: hehehe. I love it. I bet it didn't help that your Mom was probably IN LOVE with your curly, bright red hair, either. :)
