Thanksgiving

What are we thankful for?

Thanksgiving 2004.jpg

I realize this looks like no one else was there, but we were. There were 14 of us, more than I think I have ever had at Thanksgiving before. We missed you, who couldn't be there. We would have made room at the table for you. And there was enough food, and then some. I made roasted veggies, including beets. Never tried them before, but they will reappear on my menus in the future. Yum. I know it isn't really about the food, but it was fun to exercise my cooking muscles, something I haven't been doing much lately.

I love these pictures.

Wow, I don't think I ever thought of my father as "small" before...

I wish we could have been there, too.

Of course, these plans are always changing, but we do plan on being home at Thanksgiving next year.

I look forward to it. Yes, that was always the joke in my family of origin. Daddy was taller than anyone else in my family, but I married the shortest of the Dornbrooks. In addition, Daddy is starting to lose height, like an inch and a half. I think it is the effect of super gravity -- from carrying roofing shingles up (against gravity) the ladder, therefore doubling the effect of gravity.
