Daddy Says I Have to Tell

I don't want to because I don't know what it all means, but Daddy says it isn't fair to keep you in the dark.

I had a colonoscopy Friday because I have been having 'intestinal difficulties' since May. I have been telling my oncologist, but he seemed to dismiss it so I assumed it had nothing to do with the cancer. And I don't have any evidence otherwise. I'm just setting the stage here.

Two days before the colonoscopy, a lump seemed to pop out from under my rib cage on the left side. I had mentioned to my oncologist that I had a 'poke' on the left side and again, he seemed to dismiss it so when this did pop up, I figured it wasn't cancer and so he didn't really want to hear about it. I called my primary care doctor. She thought it might be a hernia and ordered a CT scan to have a closer look. I had that Saturday.

What my primary Dr said is that the CT scan showed 'a lesion on my chest wall', and she wants to do a CT guided needle biopsy. We have not scheduled this yet. She has consulted with my oncologist, so everyone is informed at this point, but not yet in concert.

I don't really know what all of this means. I was going to wait until we had something more tangible before telling you, but the lump under my rib cage is pretty tangible. I will let you know how this progresses.

Please try not to worry. (Yeah, right! That works for me, too!) But, really, worrying doesn't change anything. It just makes you miserable in the process.

And, Rae, I promise I will never refer to you as preggers. Mara, it was meant as a joke. I hope it doesn't mean something horrible that I wasn't aware of.

And the award goes to (drumroll please) Maman for the best way to end an "Oh, I might have more cancer, by the way," post for judiciously apologizing about refering to your eldest daughter as preggers!

On a side note, the term preggers is so funny that, well, it probably shouldn't be in this post. Dramatic comedy! here's the least offensive urban dictionary definition:

(adj.) Pregnant female, used mainly in the early stages of pregnancy, by moron future (dead-beat) dads. The word itself dates back to Victorian Britain.

Guess what? She's preggers!

All kidding aside, thank you for telling us about this. I really appreciate that you're keeping us informed. I love you maman.

Maman, althought I dislike the term, I took no offense and actually didn't realize what Rachael was referring to until I read your blog entry just now. I definitely have bigger fish to fry.

Ironically, I have a lump popping out under my rib cage too . . . right in front :-) I have to go as I have a doctor's appointment shortly. Not looking forward to it. I'm in pain and there doesn't seem to be a clear reason. They'd all love to X-ray, but then, that's off limits . . . ugh, so frustrating.

So, for now, don't worry, I won't worry. I seem to have too many of my own. Maybe next week I'll worry. Here's hoping ;-)

Is it soft? Can you push it back in? If so, it might (might!) be a hernia? Good luck, and let me know. I am going down to see Dr. Pelley with my scans this afternoon at 4:30. God only knows when I will get home. Daddy is working until 7 tonight. I don't know why that seems important right now. But it is.

Oh, Maman, I was being facetious - you know, 'my bump' :-)

The doctors are going down the list trying to figure out my abdominal pain - so far it isn't: kidney stones, appendicitis, or a bladder infection. Could be: constipation or gallstones. (Everyone want to pray/hope/wish, whatever very, very hard that it's constipation? PLEASE?)

I spoke to one of my dear friends here (who's making me yummy dal for dinner tomorrow, bless her!) and she said her sister's doctors never did find any reason for her abdominal pain (she's about 6 months pregnant). Ick.

Sorry - is my ick taking away from your ick? I'm sure you can relate - I'm getting really tired of all this sickness!!!

You can have all the ick you can handle. I would gladly do without any, if I could! But I wouldn't wish any of it on you or anyone else for that matter.

Sorry I didn't get the 'bump'. I knew you weren't feeling well and thought, gee, she isn't showing yet (therefore the bump) so thought you had a different bump.

The dal should help if it is constipation.

Thank you for posting. Good luck with your scans and visit with Dr. Pelley this afternoon. I'll see you soon! :)

Preggers is a term that has become popular with what retarded people are calling the 'trend' of famous people getting pregnant. I especially associate it with Britany Spears- so you can see 3why I don't like it.
