1. Way to go, Rae! Congratulations! I am thinking of things I can send you, that you will hate and wonder what on earth I was thinking you would do with them when I bought them. I am so happy and proud of you! Good job. (Pun intended!)(If you don't know what I am talking about, click here.)
2. Grampa is moving into the Brecksville VA today. This is a good thing. He can stay there as long as, meaning his stay is not limited to one month, which is what we thought was the terms of Brecksville. Gramma can visit easily and frequently. We can take him out for family visits and events as desired. This is a very good thing. Grampa will recieve the medical care and attention that is more than Gramma can manage and Gramma will get a rest. She has been running ragged for the last two years or more.

Great! Umm, this isn't the place where there was nothing to do all day and he just sat there and stared at nothing for 2 weeks, is it?

I suppose it isn't, as you were certainly not thrilled about that!

Weeeelll, actually, yes, it is. Only there are a few differences. He was in lock-down last time because someone thought he might wander. Well, it is hard to get him out of bed, let alone out of the apartment. I think he won't go anywhere. The ward he is on now is for people who are more cogent, so there is more possibility for interaction. Gramma felt good about it yesterday when I talked to her at around 6:30. By 9 pm, Grampa had called her 4 times telling her to come and get him, he wasn't staying and he was waiting for her. It was tearing her up, but she has to remain firm. It may not be the very best possible solution, but it is much better than Gramma trying to take care of him. This is why the whole 'putting mom in the nursing home' issue is so emotionally laden. It is really tough. I just hope Gramma can hang tough. She will need all our support in this process.

Ah.

Gotcha.
