Spring

Yesterday, Spring came. The weather went up to 41 degrees. Daddy and I got out into the garden and Daddy prepared the ground for future plantings; I planted onion sets. Together, we planted 4 golden raspberries and another blueberry bush.

Next week -- Summer! It is supposed to go up to the 70's. This is so Cleveland!

it seems that, once the lake returns to liquid form, that everything gets more fun in Cleveland (except for rain, there's always lots of rain!)

Lake effect rain!

First strawberries came in Scotland; I had some for Easter dinner.

Wow ... our strawberry season is pretty much over.

No strawberries here for at least two and a half months. At least, not local strawberries. Since this is America, we can get strawberries year round. Sort of like tomatos year round. They may be plastic, but they are big and red.

And I just read in today's paper that it might snow next week -- typical! If it snows just another .7 inches it will become the snowiest winter on record. Wow. It really didn't seem all that snowy, but we missed some of it while in Israel. Well, I didn't miss it much, but we weren't here for it.

Any comments on the lentils and rice recipe? I feel kinda paranoid when No One says anything! If you don't like it, let me know or you might end up eating it when you come for a visit.
Has anyone found a good cookbook editing software so I can make you each a cook book? I mean, you wouldn't want me to take to my grave the recipes for spaetzels, schmeeze, (oh, gosh, what else do I make that you like?) . . .

We love your ratitoe (I'm spelling phonetically- like a first grader!) and how about your pie/crust recipe? Chile, jam, the only good jello salad we've ever had, how to cook artichokes, that jello pretzel cake- who knew jello would come up so much!- GREEN spagetti, potatoe pancakes(daddies special?) plum dumplings and potatoe dumplings...you have made the potatoe ones, no? oh, that tomatoe dessert, and raisiny dessert too whose name I can't recall this instant...oh yeah, rice pudding!

pineapple upsidedown cake, ugly cake, Meatloaf (although, i think that's pretty much pappa who really likes that), pot roast, domoda, lentils (the lentils were good, i enjoyed them), bread, cherry pie, shmeeze, mmmmm... shmeeze! There are a lot of good meals that you make, and assorted dishes, like turkey stuffing and pappa's cranberry sauce (uh, i guess you wouldn't be taking that to the grave...). Mmmmmm, just the thought of good food makes me miss home. sigh, too bad you won't have any time to cook this summer (or motivation necessarily).

Chicken paprikash (who ever thought Mara would start w/ a chicken recipe?!), lasagna, your condemned mac & cheese!!! agh!!! I can't believe you guys vetoed that!!! Will I ever get over that?!?!?! Agh!?!!, almost everything mentioned above (sorry, never found a meatloaf I liked - unless it wasn't beef...), mmm, bread, mmm..., yes! spaetzles, absolutely (I have that recipe, though), that wonderful summer squash stir fry, tuna burgers!, and I loved the lentils, too, your lentil soup, gazpacho (I need to learn how to make that), need to go ... good thing we didn't start this thread during the Fast!!! Oh!! Your jams!!! (ok, no grape, though, please :D)

Okay, that is a good start. Feel free whenever you are at home to comb through my recipes and to reminisce and ask for recipes. I will include Gramma and Mimi recipes too. Whatever you can think of.
Next mission: Finding a software to plug them into to make publishing easier. I will do some research on this end too.

Swee says hello - and that, Daddy, you look great in your scrubs :-)

And today we broke the record for the snowiest winter on record. Depending on which account you read, we needed either.7 inches or 2.something inches of snow to break the record. Well, either way, it's broken. I'm not sure how much has fallen but it is more than 2.something and it is still snowing.

what a shame. the precipitation here is rain and it is really coming down. We should be back in the 50s or 60s tomorrow. I'm planting a hydrangea and taking care of the backyard garden that is covered in evil evil ivy.

have an ivy problem? = feeding Andrew and Mendon well for a weekdend (or maybe not anymore since we're not slouchers with nothing to do). but you can certainly try: )

Just be aware that Andrew will be more useful cleaning the fridge (since he has some fairly severe allergies), and in a day or two you may be treating Mendon for poisonn ivy.... heheheheheh ... sigh, those were the days!

Yay, Rae! Go kill evil ivy!!! [so nice to know I've managed to convey my hatred of ivy to you all :D]
