By the way, this 'riot' even made the front page of the News-Herald! Must be really big news.

Maman, we were going to take over the world and rule it with an Iron Fist! We weren't anarchists - we aspired to be The Man - you know, the one holding everyone down.

The Edinburgh police have done a fantastic job - a few broken windows, a couple of folks in hospital, not too much past that. Most of the nasty stuff turned out to be rumour.

I work about 200 metres from where the worst of the rioting took place - really, the police had it under control. The only people who were really terrified were the tourists who had gone to take pictures of the riots. These people outnumbered both the police and the rioters by a factor of three. Some of them got caught by police maneuvers designed to divide, block and trap the rioters, which means they got caught in confined spaces with a combination of violent anarchists and violent riot police, which is not a good place to be.

Okay, this is getting serious! People were worried when I let Mendon go to the Gambia. People asked me if I was worried with Mara and Mark living in Israel. I was sort of worried when Mara and Mark vacationed in Madrid after their attacks. People were surprised that I was going to go to Israel, unafraid. The two children no one seems to worry about are Rachael, who lives right outside a city that was attacked by terrorists and Nathan, in Edinburgh. Now we have new attacks in London. It reminds me of a Kingston Trio song. If I can find the lyrics, I will post them.

They're rioting in Africa. They're starving in Spain. There's hurricanes in Florida and Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls. The French hate the Germans. The Germans hate the Poles.
Italians hate Yugoslavs. South Africans hate the Dutch and I don't like anybody very much!
But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud for man's been endowed with a mushroom shaped cloud.
And we know for certain that some lovely day someone will set the spark off and we will all be blown away.
They're rioting in Africa. There's strife in Iran. What nature doesn't do to us will be done by our fellow man.

Well, this has generally been an uplifting evening. Oh, and your story also received a nod from The Hindu (if you didn't guess, that's one of the larger newspapers here in Tamil Nadu).
