New Sitrep - 10 minutes old
Another observer has reported in by mobile phone.
~ 12 police vans went tearing into Edinburgh, apparently in the direction of the city centre.
No further information.
My instinct is that these might be leaving the city centre by a circuitous route rather than entering.
Also, there are reports that Princes Street Gardens have been heavily vandalised.
Further reports later. I'll also try and get some footage.
As a protest against the protest, I've booked myself a meal at Edinburgh's most expensive restaurant - and requested that they serve brioche throughout the meal as a side dish.
I'm not worried about protesters disrupting my meal; no one on the dole will know where this place is.

I work down in Leith.I get there by bike in the morning and at lunch I go up to the cinema complex for chow.I also finish work early so I get home round 16:45.As far as I can tell the streets were quiet the whole day.Even though its workers day, a few construction sites were open including mine.I dont suppose these protesters would come down there. They know that they would probably get slapped by some large construction worker and told to go back to work.Or get a bloody job.All was quiet on the western front.

Tsk. Tsk. Look it up in the dictionary. You'll remember it longer.
And yes, it is in the dictionary - it's a military term. The only other option is that the term is Australian. They're the only other ones who shorten everything down to three letter 'words' like the U.S. military!
