Liam is asleep

Which is why I'm writing. I've had oodles of ideas of what to write on my blog. Of course, I can't think of any of them right now.

Anyone have experience getting iron drops into a baby who doesn't like them, won't eat spoon-fed food and refuses bottles and sippy cups? Basically, Liam's iron is crazy low, but it's okay because his body seems to handling it as if it's normal, except that brain development really does need iron, so we have to get him pumping iron, so to speak.

I will soon be 32. When did 32 get so young?

I don't think I'm going to have any more children. Ever.

If I take a virtual reality vacation (a la total recall), will I forget all of my real-life concerns while I'm on vacation?

Funnily enough, even though when I look at my life objectively I think it's pretty crazy and kind of crappy, I really do have to admit I'm pretty happy. Or numb. I might be numb. I mentioned to someone that I wanted to ask my mother whether she had a preferred charity for people to make memorial donations. The person's response was basically like, "wow, you're really dealing with some weighty stuff, Mara." I sat for a moment and tried to see what emotion I felt, I just shrugged. All I could think of was, "enh, whatever." Is this the new normal?

And now you know what I'm thinking ... scary, ain't it?

Update: I've uploaded 3 new videos of Liam - crawling, discovering a cupboard in the kitchen and playing with his new shelf space in the living room.

Here's the crawling one. For more, go to my You Tube link at your right.

Wait...you're older than me (turned 31 in September)?

Well, yes, it would appear so! :-)

I think 32 is the new 23; there's a revival of youthfulness going on of sorts. The mid-life crisis phase is also moving up in terms of age, so it's not really guys in their 50's buying flashy cars, it's more like guys in their 60's. Maybe it's because Generation X is taking over the world after they realised the Baby Boomer generation done a lot of damage, so new rules are being made to accomodate. I have no idea what my generation is up to, maybe Mendon knows?

I'm sorry that stuff is so tough for you and your family at the moment. I'm sending love and good thoughts your way!

Try holding his nose right after you squirt the medicine into his mouth as far back as you can.
for a second or two. As I recall it worked sometimes on youse guys growing up. Can't they give him iron shots(as if he didn't get enuff shots already)?
Can also try a straw full of the iron liquid with your finger on one end. When seems to be interested take your finger off and watch the funny face he makes as the surprise goes down the hatch....

Thanks for the suggestions, Papa. I've stopped trying to mix the iron w/ anything and he seems okay with it. I give it in .3 mL increments throughout the day. I'm so supposed to mix it so that it doesn't stain his teeth.

I figure that
A) he has 2 teeth,
B) they are baby teeth, and
C) he loves sucking on a hot, wet wash cloth.

Ingrida, are you sure it isn't the reverse? That mid-life crises are coming earlier?

I had a quarter life crisis last year.
"When am I ever going to have fun?"
Now I'm having more fun and less stress and probably working just as hard.

Well Sweetie, I can sure relate to the numb feeling. I seem to do it whenever necessary. It seems to be a subconscious thing so one can sleep at night. I like to remember Scarlett O'Hara "I'll think about it tomorrow!"
XO

Oh, and iron shots are apparently to be avoided if one can possibly manage it. That's why the doctors have all given me time and suggestions on how to get it into him.
