Four Days

I think it's fair to start a countdown.

Four days.

Four days until I say good-bye to my twenties forever.

Not sure how I feel about that yet. I've certainly seen, done and accomplished much in this decade.

'Til Saturday, I guess!

Have a great next decade!

Does that change anything? other tan the numbers? Im amazed at how slow time goes but at the same time it goes fast, I mean you look back and see all you have achieved so far, and its impossible to go trough it all but at the same time its in the past and it seems like everything happened in a day.
Here's for not letting age change the way your energy flows, cheers!

When I turned thirty, Carol threw a huge birthday party for me, but it was a surprise.

I had no idea - instead, I thought we were just going out to dinner. But she had arranged for everyone to come and decorate the house and prepare a fabulous party.

When we got back to the flat, I just wanted to go to bed; it had been a good day and I was ready to relax.

So I went into the bedroom and started to undress. Carol was trying to get me to go into the living room, so they could all yell "Surprise!" and the party could start.

I refused. "C'mon, sweetie. Let's just go to bed." I said.

"Nah, boy! You've got to come into the living room to, uh, check the Chelsea scores."

Okay, here's a few things you should know:

First, I don't know which end of the football you kick, so this is a ridiculous statement.

Second, due to some bizarre confluence of supernatural forces, I actually knew that Chelsea were playing the following day.

"Chelsea aren't playing until tomorrow." I said, and started to unbuckle my pants.

Carol, in horror, reached out, grabbed me and dragged me bodily into the living room, where I stood, fly down, top button unbuttoned, belt open as three dozen of my closest friends yelled "Surprise!"

I was surprised.

From the other side I can tell you that I definitely would not want to back track. I'll willingly submit to the effects of time and gravity in exchange for the growth that life experience brings you. Onward HO!

Thanks for the (subtle) reminder for your poor, clueless mother who, while she will never forget the actual event or day thereof, may miss it this year without some prodding.

I came, I saw, I conquered. 30 was 27 years ago. Some of you were here. Some not. I would love to be thirty again for one week. Just to remind me of, well, things! Now that I am soooo old, I guess that's what memories are for.
So I will remember being thirty so we can be united in thought for a day! Scary huh? Papa was thirty twenty-seven years ago. I got a cane and a girdle from relatives and close friend and co-workers. It was a surprise of sorts at Cindy and Uncle Ev's apartment in Lakewood. Mama can give details as I am, according to her, wrong about the details. Yuk!Yuk! HarDeeHarHar!

It's not four days anymore! Happy Birthday, Mara! :)

Thanks, Nae! For my birthday, could you get links up on my blog, please? Pretty please with sugar on top? (Flappr, other web sites, etc)

Thank you in advance!
