Patience is a Virtue

I believe someone once said "revenge is a plate best eaten cold."

Well, I have bidden my time. In fact, I didn't think I'd get this chance.

But it has come. She has forgotten what she said.

*evil grin* heheheheh.....

For those of you who have been around my blog for a while remember my encounter with a tarantula in my bathroom.

Yes, a tarantula. In the bathroom. You can check my entry from 9 June 2004 for the full story.

And make sure to read the comment from my sister teasing me for freaking out over a tarantula.

Only, see, she has apparently found a few cockroaches in HER house and now that is a big deal.

Well, darlin', it seems what goes around comes around.

Happy killing!

p.s. if you don't know me as well as my sister does, I love her immensely and am fully aware that having cockroaches in your house is a major bummer.

I haven't forgotten, and I stand by it.

Mara, patience is a virtue, but, here, it's a battle tactic. You girls (I thought briefly of calling you ladies) are so silly.

Nice to see you around, Kristen!

Hopefully we'll get that blog up and running for you soon!

I got to thinking about the quote and couldn't decide which was correct, served or eaten, so I went to trusty Google. This is what I found, which just left me more confused.

: Who said/wrote this originally?

Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderios de LaClos (1741-1803). He originally said it in French in his 1782 book Les Liasons Dangereuses: "La vengeance est un plat qui se mange froid,"

Although this site refers to the quote as 'served cold', doesn't this translate to 'eat cold'? And I am not so sure that the eating refers to the recipient of the revenge, but that the preparer (and eater -- one and the same. Think about who is savoring the taste of the revenge) had to wait and it was not done in the heat of passion.

Mara I think you'd better have another look at the "Patience" virtues card, cause I have the feeling this particular take on it might not be what was intended. :)

You know, Mara, the tarantula post was a much better read on the other side of the world. Currently, thanks to mefloquine and the congregations of spiders which I've already destroyed in the bathroom, it's a large source of alarm. : \
