Monster Socks

And because I had a ton of time at the Clinic, I totally wove the soles of the socks with yarn, so they won't wear out as quickly and will offer more insulation from the floor. It's a little hard to tell with the tweediness of the yarn, but they have cables running up and down them. Way fun! Though now my hands need a rest from working with such thick yarn. My next project is felted slipper/socks for Daddy, but that will also be a heavy yarn project, so might make something else first.

They make me think of hobbits . . . and hippies :-)

Hmm, let's see. . . something fine . . . baby stuff could be fine, no? A sweater, a blanket, that blanket/sweater/dress that you showed me a few years ago and asked if you could knit for a future grandchild.

And no, this is not my way of telling you I'm pregnant. I will be much, much less subtle whent the time comes!

I know. I'm schizophrenic on this issue. Okay, I'm not schizophrenic, technically, just completely split and torn. So, yeah, whatever.

Well, I had thought of some baby stuff, against the day babies come into our family and I am not here. Would I have to have a stash of, say, four girlie things and four boyish things, depending on who had what when?
Anyway, I'm trying to knit from my stash of yarn since I am shopping less (exposure to 'germs!') Is purple a good color for babies? I happen to have a ton of it that I bought from a knitting mill that was going out of business.

Of course it is! And it's good for kids a bit older too - you know, when the child can actually say "my grandmother made it for me - before I was even born!" I can also think of at least two of your grown children who are not afraid of wearing purple. :-)
