Spring in Cleveland
As you can see the crocuses are making a valiant effort to bloom in the face of adversity and the daffodils are not far behind. By this time in years past, Daddy had been able to get into the garden, turn it over and plant some of the cold weather crops. Not this year. Daddy hasn't really had much time, but even if he had, he wouldn't have been able to do much. We just barely got the carrots and parsnips out for our Naw Ruz. There are still some in the ground (so if anyone comes home soon and wants some, I'll gladly make them.) They were so good roasted with potatos and yams with olive oil, salt and pepper! Yumm! I also made a meatloaf (at Daddy's request -- he doesn't get it very often anymore since we are trying to eat a more healthful diet.) I forgot the salt, but that didn't stop anyone from eating it! It went quite quickly. I also made a rice and lentils dish that I sort of copied from Mike and made up on my own. Not as popular, but I still like it.

Just wanted to let you know that we both thoroughly enjoy the picture that you've posted. Mendon remarks "Beautiful. You should think about cropping it and submitting it to a photography contest. It's fresh; I love it." I agree. : )

Why, thank you! I was quite 'chuffed' myself. And it captures the struggle this spring has been to get warmer. Still not a won battle yet. I was surprised how much warmer Miami was than Cleveland.
BTW, this looks really great on my new screen. Much better than it does on my monitor at work.

Before opening the 'continue reading' part, I thought "these daffodils and crocuses are the heroes of Cleveland, valiantly trying to show signs of life amongst the freezing weather."
And I would LOVE a rice & lentils recipe. Some of the Arab restaurants in the Wadi (including the "Al-n bi" Restaurant :-)) makes awesome rice & lentils!!

By the way, I love the "miamigeeks" email address - heheheheh....

Shall I post it? I had Rae write things down as I made it so I could get the measurements closer. It's still a bit loose. This is actually the one I tried to make at your house when we were there, but you didn't have any of the spices I wanted to use. So, needless to say, it tasted quite different.
And the only problem with miamigeeks is that I got my email back undeliverable.

Ok maman, it's high time someone explained the email thing to you. If you run your mouse cursor over the link, at the bottom left hand side of the window a little information bar shows up. It shows you the link. because we can put in any email we want people sometimes put in email addresses that don't work, for the sake of entertainment for anyone who checks the actual link. It's fun, but it doesn't exist. Sorry, I suggest, if it doesn't look familiar, don't bother emailing it (though yesterday's post most certainly was mine and kristen's).
Much love

I kinda wondered about that. I mean, one could enter any email address when you post a comment. I didn't realize that it showed up in the corner. The way I tested it was to click to send an email to you. That's when I got it back as undeliverable. Thanks for enlightening me. Who knows where it will take me?

We have daffodils in bloom here. I took a picture of one w/ my camera phone and meant to show you when I visited but I forgot. It wasn't meant to brag...just proof that Spring is coming! Perhaps I'll show it to you another time.

Rae, next time you are in town, we will go to either Radio Shack or Best Buy and get the cable you need to download your phone pictures to your computer without the expensive service. I love the immediacy of those photos and don't want to wait until you get here to see them. I want you to be able to share them with more than one person at a time.
