Talk about frustrating

I mean frustrating at the bone marrow level. That feeling that things have not gone the way you planned, wanted, hoped for . . . and it is totally beyond your control. That's where I am at the moment.

Ever since Mara and Mark left last year, I have consoled myself with the knowledge that they would come for a visit. I recently got a spread of dates from Mara and blocked them out in my Palm to make sure that I didn't add any obligations during those days. I have been hoarding vacation days so I could take a few while they were here and still have enough to visit them in Haifa in January.

Then, quite unexpectedly, Mark's father suffered a heart attack. This event brought about the equally unexpected but delightful result that Mark and Mara returned to the States. Mark's father seemed to be doing well, so Mark and Mara came to visit us. It was a wonderful to see them, but not what I had hoped for their visit. I saw so little of them, and through no fault of their own.

Well, I suppose that I can just accept the bounty of having seen them at all and plan for my January visit. It was really great to see them, even if for so short a time.

A bientot!

Yeah, be happy, cause I was really looking forward to seeing them at Thanksgiving and now I don't get to see them at all probably! Maybe you could use those vacation days to come visit me...:)

One thing you could do to try to detective things out is write down what you do and also what the computer 'does'. If the reason the photos only sometimes appear is a human error then you may be able to see a pattern that explains what you do that makes a difference (yeah, I know...that takes a lot of patience and time).

I am reading Up the Down Staircase. I love it. I think you would too.

Oh, up the down staircase was a favorite book of mine when I was in high school. And our school actually had up and down staircases too! which I thought was really over the top when I first heard of it, but trying to get somewhere in the press of bodies made me realize how necessary it was for survival.

I think what may be the problem, aside from the old computer and slow link, might be the format the photos are saved in. I will double check that they are jpg and try again.

I read Up the Down Staircase in high school, too. Also one of my favorites. It made me want to be a teacher.

Obviously, I changed my mind.
