Dun Edin

Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, has been settled for more than 20,000 years. And boy, when the wind is just wrong, it sure does smell like it!

I'm kidding. The Caledonian brewery smells like someone is baking fresh bread. In every oven in the city. All day long.

The gun went off an hour and 11 minutes ago and I've stopped by an Internet cafe on Rose Street to send a note to the inky darkness of Blogland.

The sun is shining, a low-slung winter sun, hanging off the hills of the pentlands like a pair of trousers hangs off the hips of a fashionable girl. It makes me want to go and play in the hills.

Well, off for a pint and some lunch for me!

Glad you are enjoying Scotland! If only we could transmit smells over the Internet. Ok, maybe that wouldn't be a great idea in general.

Hey, Chris!

Bj once had the idea of Dolby Surround Smell. It would allow theaters to put scent into the air so that not only could people see and hear the car chase, they'd be able to smell the burning rubber.

Marshall McLuhan wanted to do this, as well, but all of his experiments went awry. He first made a machine that would release smells into the air in theaters, just like Bj's Smell-O-Vision idea. It flopped. After a few different scents, it just made people nauseated.

Then, later, he made a special soap that would remove urine stains from underwear, but not the scent. A man truly ahead of his time. Lost his entire fortune in the second endeavour.

Very weird man.

I don't believe that last comment about Marshall McLuhan. What is your source?

Hahahahaha!!
