Is This Me?

Is me questioning this exactly what it's saying about me? How can 12 questions (or something like that) really tell me who I am? Why do we do this stuff? Is that last one true? I don't know what I told them to make them think that... whatever.

You Are the Reformer

You're a responsible person - with a clear sense of right and wrong.

High standards are important to you, and you do everything to meet them.

You are your own worst critic, feeling ashamed if you're not perfect.

You have the highest integrity, and people expect you to be fair.

This is you to the max. Is that a problem?

And is this me, or what? This is a mini Myers-Briggs and is quite accurate.

You Are the Investigator 5

You're independent - and a logical analytical thinker.

You love learning and ideas... and know things no one else does.

Bored by small talk, you refuse to participate in boring conversations.

You are open minded. A visionary. You understand the world and may change it.

I'm curious how the rest of you all scored.

How funny! Me too. I was gonna say that's not me, but you and I generally tend to be the same on these sorts of tests. I don't think the smalltalk thing is true at all though!

So, you're an investigator too?
Okay, so I participate in boring conversations, but what I think actually happens is that I join conversations and my contribution turns them into boring conversations. It is true that I have never quite figured out small talk and often feel very ackward when it is socially required. I remember Mara (back when she was in Angers) writing about how small talk is different in France and the US. She could not get a conversation going and keep it going until an American expat came to town. That is when the light bulb went off for her. I think I sort of suffer the same thing in reverse. It is one of the reasons I have trouble at Gramma and Grampa's for holidays. I don't fit in the conversation pattern. You would think that 33 years in this family, I would have figured it out, but the topics they want to discuss are boring to me. Does this mean that if I went to France I would be able to sustain a conversation, pretending that there was no language barrier? Probably not. There are times I just feel like I don't fit anywhere.

I did think this was quite accurate, so I asked some of our student workers to take it and it didn't seem at all to be them, but then, maybe I don't know them as well as I thought.

You are furry.

You smell like wet animal and shed all over the place.

Occasionally you are fascinated by your own feces.

does this sound like a person or a dog? ummmm... i did this and it turned out that i lack a dynamic personality. I am wholly committed to making others feel better about themselves. I am completely selfless...
This is a load of malarkey! it's so broad that you could probably fit a bunch of their numbers. and they only make a few comments about you. sure, so what? you have those characteristics, but so do i. Ask yourself, are you selectively remembering times when you engendered these characteristics and selectively overlooking the times that you didn't? go back to Meyers-Briggs, they at least have a good deal of science in their test.

Wow, for a second there I thought I'd been invaded by some crazy false blogger ... good to know you're on my side, Mensch :-) Yes, I totally agree, Myers-Briggs is more accurate. Of course, I found the questions in the test kind of 'tricky' - one has to really know oneself and be totally honest with oneself to get an 'accurate' result here. Rae taught me that. One year at Midwinter conference we did a thing where we had to fill out a questionnaire about ourselves and then have someone else answer the questions about us. I wanted someone who actually knew me to look at it, so I gave it to Rae. She took one look at it and said "this is who you want to be, not who you are" [with a kind apology]. It was a shock, but it helped me to be much more honest with myself. [it's that perfection complex I've had for years - no one can find out I'm not perfect!] It was a big turning point for me.

Thank you, Rae. That happens to be one of your talents. You've probably done that for all of us at one time or another.

"But, Nae, you don't wear glasses."

In my defense he had a stamp that said NERD!
