Mara is an Abandonned Child
Not to worry. That's what it means to the Sarha tribe in Chad. When a family abandons a child, the child will say "mara", which means "where will I go now?"
Sad, eh?
But then, who isn't in the process of asking that question?

Good observation. Actually, I think not enough people (including myself) ask that question often enough.
(Do Chadians abandon their children so regularly that there is a standardized response?)

No. I checked again. It's more like when the the parents are not supporting the child. I'm not sure whether that means financially, or more moral/emotional support.
