Breathing is my friend and clutter...
TODAY'S HEALTHY NEWS FLASHES!
The other day I was reading in my old anatomy and physiology textbook. It was on the subject of metabolism and nutrition. Under nutrition was a section on gaining fatty weight. It said that for every two pounds of fat we have, there is one mile of vascularization required to perfuse it. In other words our heart has to pump blood thru one more mile of vessels for each two pounds of fat we have. That is a huge increase in required heart work. I thought it was interesting. I told a fellow RT wanna-be who is a 'first year' student. He asked for the reference and promised to get started reducing his heart mileage work. I told him it was trivial statistical info, and not an indication he should exercise or lose weight. He said he'd been putting it off for a long time aand this info was enough to actuate him. I do see him in the gym now too.
Another item was that we need some protein before, or around 10 a.m. to carry us through the remainder of our day.
We also sigh six times an hour to make up for the lack of appropriate breaths the rest of the time.
A sigh is 1 1/2 to 2 times bigger than an average breath and keeps our little alveoli open instead of going flat from lack of ventilation.
You are now equipped to educate the masses. Spit spot. Hop to it.....

I'd share some insights from the field of psychiatry but they're quacks. I'm going to complain about the merits and drawbacks soon enough anyway.

Heck, Mara, each time you walk out your door, you 'actuate'. How else could I have eaten the way I did when I vistited you and not gain any weight?

Well, actually, I was planning on actuating others :-)
