Theme and Variation

Last night I had a string of seemingly unrelated and bizzarre dreams. See if you can see the pattern.

Dream 1
I was hunting down demons and fighting them. I had a sword that I had to pierce them with to kill them. I had already fought and defeated Baal, and Belhifet, and was just down to Baelzebub (interestingly the first, Baal and Baelzebub are the same demon). Well, I was getting better at killing demons, but in a twist Baelzebub disarmed me (if he wounded me, I would die or something horrible). So, I was fighting him hand to hand and unable to land a blow let alone defend myself. He just kept laughing and mocking me with, "What are you going to do now?"

Dream 2
I'm in a room that is supposed to be a classroom but appears to be an incredibly unfinished house. There are unfinished walls and exposes support beams everywhere, not to mention a cement floor splattered with spackle and whitewash. I'm sitting in some sort of comfy chair and the instructor, my step-mother-in-law, is rambling on about something stupid that she doesn't understand. I am failing to fiddle with my laptop in such a way that it will entertain me and, finally, I give up because it starts making noise. Meanwhile the other students in the course are hiding in a bedroom (one room that has been completely dry-walled). Jerry turns to me after I put my laptop down and asks, "What do you want me to talk about now?" My response, avoiding the question as well as I can, which is not, "Are you asking me or the people in the bedroom?"

Dream 3
It's not so good, the demons are winning this one. They're after us and we're hiding in an old shack. Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Sylvester Stalone are there and they decide that they're going to go and fight the demonic hordes (animated garbage) that is trying to get us. As they leave, I try to go with them, know that they don't stand a chance without me, the legendary demon slayer. They disappear. The rest of us sit around and the question is on everyone's lips, "What the heck are we going to do? They're going to knock down the walls any second and we'll be completely exposed."

Dream 4
I'm trying to visit Andrew in Evanston at his apartment complex. I'm trying to get into the building but it's blocked by furniture that the landlords are disposing of (nice stuff, though). So, I try to help a guy move a piece of furniture. He's a little too gung-ho and it gets tossed and rolled; it's not my fault. All of a sudden, he knows my name and is blaming me for damaging the desk that I tried to help him move. I try to, unsuccessfully, defend myself from his verbal abuse. I finally make my way into the aparment complex and am looking for Andrew. I trudge up the steps, past a landing where a few young women are waking up from a sleepover on the stairs (?). As I walk by, I realize that one of them looks a lot like Tahirihl! I poke around the corner and see that she's thought that she's recognized me and we peer at each other and both say out loud, "hmmm, that's her/him, what's she/he doing here?" I move on, trying to make my way through the labyrinth that the ancient building that Andrew lives in is. Yet, I keep running into people who are clearly visiting Andrew, Carmel and Alana, an unnamable person, it's weird. I still can't find Andrew. Finally, I run into the land lady. She thinks that I want to stay there and is trying to get me to sign a contract. I just want to visit Andrew and won't sign anything. Finally, she finishes explaining to me the terms of the lease I don't even want and hands me the pen and asks, "So, what do you want to do?" Flustered and a bit bumblingly, I try to explain that I just want to visit with my friend!

Gee, I don't know, Mensch, what are you going to do now?

Maybe it was all the ice cream? Or the late drive home? :-)

It was nice visiting with you and Kristen last night, as well as Rebecca and her family.

Awkwardness and Obstacles?

Also, visiting Evanston in your walking state would be much easier and tastier.

Nail on the head, Mara. What are you going to do next, Mensch, besides not eat ice cream so late in the evening?

It sounds like a job for some industrious person. I guess I'll just have to employ all of my faculties to work out everything I'm going to do!

Boo excessive puns:P

It just sounds like you should be tired waking up so often to have so many dreams. Unfulfilled is a common theme of many, many dreams. Challenging to a point of deletion is also common. So on one nite you had a bunch of normal dreams uncommonly together.
