May 4th, 2007
I'll be free of academic responsibilities as of this May, and I will not have any for at least a year, as I haven't applied to grad school yet. I have a free year. Up until this point, I've always said that I'd like to pursue music if I can, if I can get an audition, etc. I've always seen music performance as a far-off maybe. That's a pretty sure way to ensure that performance will never be a part of my career. The reality of this dream diminishes daily after I move away from my maestro, and move into a full-time job, into grad school, parenting, whatever my lie ahead. Knowing these things and seriously contemplating life after University, I've been growing more and more determined to spend this year performing and trying it out. It may be rocky (to say the least!) but I am so excited.
Just wanted to let you know.

I'm behind you 100% on this. I'd love to see you make a go of performing, especially because I know how much the violin means to you! I love you.

I do. Thanks. You may have guessed: I'm one of those that realizes I've been writing the year incorrectly around April, if I'm lucky.

I'm excited for you and the opportunity you have to perform. I can only guess that this was in your heart from the time you picked up the first violin you played when you were in the fourth grade. Your love of the violin has been a part of you for most of your life!
